CMSE495 Project Showcase (in-person)

The CMSE Project Showcase will be held in the CMSE seminar room (EB1502 and EB1503) and is open to the public.
- The style of the presentations will be Lightning Talks followed by Digital Posters.
- Teams will be grouped into sets of three based on your Tripods. Each team will use one of the three TVs available which will be labeled ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’.

- Each team will connect a laptop (via HDMI) to their assigned TV and display their content. Content may include:
- Slides
- Demo code
- Videos
Setup Tips
- Bring your own HDMI adapter if needed.
- Test your display before the session starts.
- Have your content ready to share (slides, demos, videos).
Lightning Talks
- Instructor will introduce each team one-by-one who will give a short introduction presentation (3–5 minutes) about their work. These are called Lightning Talks.
- All team members are encouraged to participate in the presentation.
- While one group presents, the other teams and visitors will be the audience. Then, the teams will rotate.
Interactive Digital Poster Session
- After Lightning Talks, teams that are not presenting this round and visitors will walk around and interact with each team at their TV.
- Discussions during the poster session should be flexible and dynamic, allowing visitors to ask questions and engage with the team.
- Teams should be prepared to:
- Give demos
- Answer questions
- Provide additional visuals
- Consider assigning roles within your team:
- Greeter: Welcomes visitors and starts conversations
- Demo Lead: Runs code or shows interactive elements
- Subject Expert: Answers detailed questions
- Be adaptable and keep the conversation flowing until it is time to rotate!
Attendance
- All students are required to attend in person.
Agenda (70 Minutes)
- Welcome & Setup – 5 minutes
- Lightning Talks (Group 1) – 20 minutes
- Interactive Digital Poster Session for Tripod Group 1 – 10 minutes
- Lightning Talks (Group 2) – 20 minutes
- Interactive Digital Poster Session for Tripod Group 2 – 10 minutes
- Wrap-Up & Closing Remarks – 5 minutes
Every student is required to submit a feedback form for the teams NOT in their tripod. Visitors may also fill out this form.
