(5 points per week) - Due Every Friday starting September 4th.
One of the biggest problems with everyone working from home is that your peers and your bosses do not see you working. This can cause a problem when prestigious projects or promotions are handed out. There is a natural inclination for people to select others they see doing their work. If they are not seeing you, they do not know your capabilities.
I recommend that all of you get into the habit of writing weekly reports and sending them to your supervisors and maybe even teammates. These reports help you reflect on what you have been working on and ensuring you are using your time wisely.
For this assignment, I ask that you send me and your graduate mentor a weekly report on Friday of each week. Each week that you submit your report you will get 5 points. I like the 3x3 format because it is quick and easy to write and review.
The 3x3 report consists of exactly three major topics with three bullet points in each topic. The three topics include 1) What you did you do last week, 2) Questions or problems you are having 3) Your plans for next week.
Each of the 9 bullets in the 3x3 report should be no longer than a couple of sentences. Additional details can be placed in the same email after the report (not required). A typical report would have the following format:
SUBJECT: Dana Smith's UGS101-730 3x3 report for Friday October 9th.
Hello Dr. Colbry,

Thank you,

My accomplishments for the week:
- I finished and turned in my CMSE201 homework

Problems or questions:
- I am struggling with my chemistry course. We are learning about salts and I just don't understand why we are learning this stuff.
- My roommate smells and it is driving me crazy.

My plans for next week:

When you are done, please email your 3x3 report to your graduate mentor and me (colbrydi@msu.edu). To help us out, please include your name and the words "3x3" and "UGS101" is in the title (example above).
